Saudi Arabia is a significant cultural and religious destination, being the birthplace of Islam and home to the two most sacred mosques in the world: the Kaaba at Mecca and the Mosque of the Prophet in Medina. These sites draw millions of pilgrims each year, generating significant revenue for the Saudi government. In order to accommodate the influx of visitors, the government has undertaken massive development projects to improve infrastructure, transportation, and hospitality facilities. As a result, Mecca and Medina have become modern and well-equipped cities, with state-of-the-art hotels, restaurants, shopping malls.
Saudi Arabia led by Prince Mohammad Bin Salman has emerged as a diverse economy with investments in sectors beyond oil, such as sports, tourism, technology, foreign investment, and maritime trade. The government has implemented new social policies and programs aiming to transform the country and its global image. Saudi Arabia has established new tourist destinations and mega projects, such as the first smart city, NEOM, airport cities in Riyadh and Jeddah, and the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor. The country has undergone significant economic and social changes, and is actively working towards modernizing its economy and shifting away from dependency on oil.
