The name “Lusail” is derived from “al wassail”, which is the local term for a plant that grows bountifully in the area. Numerous non-energy related companies are also headquartered in Lusail. For example, hotel operator and developer Katara Hospitality is based in the city.
As part of Lusail’s master plan, the city is ultimately set to contain 36 schools with a capacity for 26,000 students. This demonstrates a commitment to providing quality education for residents of all ages.
In addition to educational facilities, numerous public parks are housed throughout Lusail’s districts. In the Fox Hills district alone, there are 33 parks which provide around 10.3 hectares of green space. One of the largest parks in Lusail is called Crescent Parks, which includes a forested area, an all-giraffe zoo, playgrounds, water features, bike trails, kiosks, monuments and several sports fields.

The city’s master plan also includes making Lusail the first smart city in Qatar. This means that it will be equipped with advanced technology and infrastructure to boost economic growth and improve overall quality of life for its residents.
One unique feature of Lusail’s infrastructure plan is its large network of cold water providing cold weather for all residents. This innovative approach to climate control sets Lusail apart from other cities in Qatar and demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Overall, Lusail represents an entirely futuristic vision for urban development in Qatar. With its focus on sustainability, advanced technology and high-quality amenities for residents and visitors alike, it promises to be an exciting addition to the country’s landscape. As it continues to develop and expand its offerings in tourism, entertainment and business opportunities, it has the potential to become a major destination within Qatar and beyond.
