Will Cincinnati be a large cargo hub in the world?

Cincinnati

While many of the US’s mega transport hubs are located on the eastern and western coasts, Cincinnati, as a Mideastern town, has the potential to become one of the largest cargo hubs in the world by investing in air transport infrastructures.

Transportation’s role in city’s financial and economical growth cannot be underestimated. Cities across the globe are making efforts to improve their transportation infrastructure to become more attractive destinations for businesses and investors. Cincinnati, located in the state of Ohio, is one such city. Despite its landlocked location, Cincinnati seeks to improve its position by investing in air cargo transport. By doing so, the city aims to enhance its connectivity with other commercial zones and attract more businesses. The city recognizes the importance of efficient transportation in attracting investment and attention and is working to establish itself as an important hub for air cargo transport. This approach promises to boost Cincinnati’s economic power and support its financial growth in the long run.

From Delta Hub to Amazon Hub

The city of Cincinnati has experienced significant changes in its air transport position over the years. Once the second largest hub for Delta Airlines after Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson airport, the city played a vital role in connecting various destinations in Europe and the United States. However, Delta Airlines’ bankruptcy in September 2005 resulted in a significant reduction in daily flights. This trend continued in the following years, leading to the demolition of some terminals to prevent further financial losses. Despite the decline in passenger flights, Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport has become the main hub for DHL cargo flights in the United States. Furthermore, on January 31, 2017, Amazon announced that it would invest $1.49B to expand its cargo facilities on the airport grounds, making CVG the main worldwide shipping hub for Amazon Air. Although the pandemic halted Amazon’s expansion projects in CVG, the city hopes that Cincinnati will soon become the largest cargo hub for Amazon in the world, progressing the Greater Cincinnati economy in the coming years.

Cincinnati as a Global Cargo Hub

Cincinnati’s CVG airport will become a large cargo hub, serving as a crucial connection to the rest of the world. This will result in new job opportunities in the region, where the city is home to several industries in sectors such as aviation, aerospace, steel, petroleum, and automotive. The potential for Cincinnati to become a massive hub for cargo flights covering the entire world is a game-changer, and could redefine the city’s future. It will be the first time a non-coastal city in the United States has the potential to become a global hub for air transport, demonstrating the power and magic of aviation.
